The second annual Functional Art of Quimper showcases the world class craft featuring local artisans John McCormack, Gunter Reimnitz and Steve Leggett.
They have formal training from among the most acclaimed art and design schools in the country including The Rhode Island School of Design, The North Bennet Street School in Boston and the San Francisco Art Institute. Moreover they bring the richness of their lives to their work.
Steve Leggett ran the mill and joinery shop at Timbercraft Homes and is a sculptor, machinist and luthier.
Born and raised on Kodiak Island, Alaska, Gunter Reimnitz, fine metalsmith, spent his childhood fishing for salmon on a 42’ fishing boat with his family. Not surprisingly marine life often shows up in his work along with his signature Abraham’s Crow clutching a red berry in its beak.
John McCormack often brings his sense of humor and whimsy into his work. His serious sense of high functional design shines throughout his body of work.
"The artisans of this show bring fine craft to its highest level to create art that we live with, that enhances our living spaces and our lives,” said client Janine Boire.
Tex Armstrong, Bete Grise and Aaron Spieldenner, musicians, will perform at FAQ II on Saturday November 1, at 6:00 PM.
